I remember that day as if it were yesterday, waking up to the radio and a DJ saying a plane has crashed in to the world trade center. I jumped up up out of bed and was in front of the TV in a flash. At first I could not comprehend what was going on. I called my mother who lived in a different part of the city at the time and said "can you believe this mom?" She said "It doesn't seem real" She went on to tell me that my brother Chris worked in the world trade center. In the middle of telling me this on the TV I saw a plane heading toward the world trade center. and I said "mom! look there showing a replay of the plane hitting the tower". and then I noticed one of the most disturbing images of the entire day. It was the small word "live" at the top right hand corner of the TV. And I screamed into the phone "MOM THIS IS LIVE! THAT IS A SECOND PLANE!" As I watched the second plane move through the tower and erupting in to a fire ball the likes of which i have never seen before. Then in an instant I realized that our nation my city the city I live in was under attack. The images I was watching flashing across my TV have now been etched into my memory and will live there until my dieing days. I later found out that my brother was indeed in the south tower the morning of 9-11-2010. Unlike so many others he did get out alive but he did not get out whole. He left behind much of who he was. He had just gotten down to the lobby of the south tower when in an instant the whole world changed for him as the second plane crashed in to the tower he was in. The human carnage and images of utter destruction that he witnessed and endure as he ran form the tower were beyond anything anyone should ever had to see and experience.

New World Notes blog

New world notes posts about the 2010 SLCC

http://www.typepad.com/services/trackback/6a00d8341bf74053ef0133f22c82f4970b

My history with the SLCC

<meta equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; I was an attendee of the first convention in 2005 held in New York City where I first met many of the original organizers of the convention. I was so blown away with the first convention that I applied to be a sponsor of the 2006 SLCC in San Francisco where I also participated on the Fashion Panel. Where I talked about my line of designer clothing in second life and shared information with the audience about best practices and my ideas of why SL fashion was a great business to be in. At the 2007 convention in Chicago I was asked to lead the Business Track by convention organizers and organized 2 full days of panels and presentations on various business related topics in Second Life. At the 2008 SLCC in Tampa, I continued on as the Business track lead continuing to organize the track as I did the previous year. However I was also given the daunting role of Director Finance and Sponsorships, where I handled all things financial and sponsor related.

At the 2009 convention in San Francisco while continuing the challenge of the Financial and Sponsor director position I gladly handed over the role of Business track lead to another organizer of the convention. At this years convention in Boston I am continuing on as the Financial and Sponsor director for the convention.

I have always been an avid supporter of the second life community convention with my belief that the SLCC is an important part of what second life is by bringing together the real life counterparts of our avatars to join together in person and discuss the many aspects of second life that effect us. To join together socially and bond in real life in a way that is just not possible in SL. It’s a time to see old friends and make new ones. To give an old friend a hug and be able to look in to there eyes and say hi’ya friend. As some one once said to me at one of the conventions “we all maybe crazy in SL but the SLCC allows us to get together in person and be crazy together.”

Don't miss out on the the 6th annual SLCC. This years Second Life Community Convention looks to be one of the most successful in history. We are heading to boston this year with some new and returning board members and a new entity AvaCon Inc behind the SLCC 2010. The new team and structure brings renewed hope to the the convention. As one of the organizers who has been with the convention since the beginning I honestly have renewed hope for the convention in all areas. The convention in my opinion has always been successful in the content and attendance, but planning and organizing has always left something to be desired. This year we have a completely new web site with an awesome person at the helm of the web site Chris M. Collins (Fleep Tuque in SL)
Fleep brings vast experience to the organization including web design, organization skills, conference planing skills and much more. Fleep has single handily built the new web site from scratch. The new web site now includes forms for any one to easily submit a presentation proposal, Track leader volunteers, forms to sign up to be a volunteer and a new stream lined process for Sponsors to sign up. The over all organization of this years convention is unlike any other I am personally very happy with the state of this years organization team.

Visit the brand new Web site here

If your thinking of going to the convention there is only......

Online Ticketing for Second Life Community Convention 2010

Please note, I may be one of the lead organizers of the SLCC but the views and opinions expressed here in this blog are mine and mine alone.

Homedepot Paint dept
